Hello and welcome to the Department of Computer Science at Hofstra University. The department's mission is to provide students with a strong foundation in the theory and practice of computer science.
As the Systems Administrator for the Department of Computer Science, I manage and coordinate all operational aspects of the department's computer systems and cater to the evolving needs of the department in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology.
The systems I manage include the Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows labs and the datacenter of the Big Data Laboratory. (Visit hofstra.edu/comscifacilities for details on these facilities.) Administration of these heterogeneous computer systems involves technical design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and automation. Also, as caretaker of the Big Data Laboratory, I carry out administrative functions including installation and configuration of virtual machines, servers, and VMware system administration.
