Introduction

In order to access VMs through the vSphere Web Client, you need to use either the VMware Client Integration Plugin (CIP) or VMware Remote Console (VMRC). The vSphere CIP is a NPAPI based plugin used to connect client-side devices (CD-ROM, USB, etc.) to a VM through the vSphere Web Client. The VMware Remote Console is a standalone application that is launched from the vSphere Web Client that is an alternative to using the Client Integration Plugin.
